Taking a little hiatus from OOTP....I'll be back soon though with BCL7.

Happy 2 Year Anniversary!

It's been officially 2 years since I started this blog....I don't know how many people actually read it, but in a way, it's more of official record keeping for my OOTP leagues....but thanks for reading along to those that take the time to read this blog.

BCL7 NEW SEASON STARTS!

Image
Here's a partial list of the games in the new league BCL7... Some interesting match ups including the 1st one with 42 Yanks vs 55 Dodgers..

Projected Next League BCL7

Image
This is what I've come up with...but too many Pirates, Cardinals, Tigers, Yankees and Boston teams... Any suggestions that I haven't used prior, let me know!

BCL 6 Wrap up

Image
The 67 Cardinals join their 68 brethren in winning the BCL World Series. Here are the game results for the BCL6 World Series and then the historical winners.

WORLD SERIES Game 7!

Image
CARDINALS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!! Coming back from 3-1 down in the series, the 1967 Cardinals take the last 3 games from the 1969 Twins to win the World Series and become the new BCL champion. Series MVP was Tim McCarver for St. Louis.

WORLD SERIES GAME 6

Image
Both teams pitched poorly and the hits were plenty. The Cardinals win this one 8-6 and tie up the series as they came back from the brink of 3-1 down. Game 7 at Busch Stadium.

WORLD SERIES Game 5

Image
Kaat vs Gibson....but Bob Gibson won out. The Cardinals survive on the brink of defeat and beat the Twins 4-3 in Minneapolis. Gibson was moved up in the rotation to stave off elimination. The plan worked. Gibson kept the Twins from scoring enough and Cardinals did enough to win. 4-3 is a familiar score in this series...Twins still lead series 3-2. Next game at Busch Stadium.

WORLD SERIES Game 4

Image
It was all home runs for Minnesota as they beat the Cardinals 4-0 and take a 3-1 World Series lead. Dean Chance was on top of his game and the Cardinals couldn't generate any offense. One last game at Metropolitan Stadium then onto Busch. Unless the Twins win tomorrow, then it's over.

WORLD SERIES GAME 3

Image
Cardinals led most of the game until the 8th when Harmon Killebrew cracked a 2 run HR off reliever Ron Willis. The Cardinals were ready to take a 2-1 lead then the HR happened. Suddenly Minnesota was looking to celebrate. Now the 69 Twins lead the World Series 2-1.

WORLD SERIES GAME 2

Image
A pitcher's duel for most of the game until both teams tied it up late. Then it went into extras and Cardinals finally win it on a sac fly. Series tied @ 1.

WORLD SERIES GAME 1

Image
The Twins came into this series hot and they continued being hot even against Steve Carlton. Minnesota blasted the Cardinals 10-4 at Busch Stadium in a day game. Jim Kaat was effective enough for the win. Rich Reese and Rod Carew had 3 run HRs to lead the Twins.

NLCS RECAP

Image
So the Cardinals came back from 3-2 down in the series to take the series win 4-3. The pitching of Carlton and Gibson was dominant and the hitting from Cepeda, Brock, Flood, etc was hot. Two hot teams will face off in the World Series now. The NLCS MVP was Orlando Cepeda.

NLCS Game 7

Image
CARDINALS WIN! The 1967 Cardinals destroyed the Phillies in Game 7, 9-1. Bob Gibson was dominate the whole way. A pitcher's duel until the 5th, then St. Louis erupted for 5 runs. They never looked back. Phillies could only manage 5 hits. A disappointing ending to the Phillies season. So both teams from the 60's head to the World Series for a league that was set in 1965. Interesting... Anyways...the World Series will be the 1967 St. Louis Cardinals vs 1969 Minnesota Twins.

ALCS RECAP

Image
The 1969 Minnesota Twins make the World Series in the BCL and MVP was Rod Carew.

ALCS Game 6

Image
TWINS GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!! The Minnesota Twins continued their dominance of the Washington Senators with a 7-3 win. The Twins hot hitting was too much for Randy Wolff.... Game 7 of the NLCS next to find out who plays Minnesota.

NLCS Game 6

Image
At Busch Stadium, the Cardinals dominated the Phillies in a Carlton-Carlton rematch, winning 6-1. Clearly the younger Carlton was better than the older version. Orlando Cepeda had 2 HRs to help the Cards win. Bench warmer Ed Spiezio is hitting hot with a 2 run triple. Series tied with Game 7 at Busch Stadium.

ALCS Game 5

Image
More domination from Minnesota as they did against Detroit winning 9-2 against the Senators. Jim Kaat was basically the player of the game. Twins are one game from the World Series.

NLCS Game 5

Image
The Phillies came back with a vengeance today beating St. Louis 9-5 at the Vet. Jaster didn't last long for the Cardinals and the Phillies hitters feasted off him today. It was the Johnson and Johnston show. In the 1st inning, the Cardinals were running early and often on Phillies catcher McCarver who made 2 throwing errors. Well...he was quickly replaced with Bob Boone. Phils take 3-2 NLCS lead and series moves to Busch Stadium.

NLCS Game 4

Image
Sorry for the confusion...but I forget to post this. Cardinals win Game 4. Tied the series.

ALCS Game 4

Image
Disregard what the headline says...I screwed up. But the Twins continued the hotness as they take game 4 from Washington 7-2. Rich Reese led the way with a homer and a couple of singles. Tom Hall who seemingly hasn't been used all year, has been pitching great in the playoffs. (Not sure why I hadn't use him). Minnesota ties the series and Game 5 at Metropolitan Stadium.

ALCS Game 3

Image
Twins come back in the series to take Game 3 and win 5-2. Rod Carew's 2 HRs paced Minnesota.

NLCS Game 3

Image
The Phillies just unleashed on the Cardinals in a 17-6 win at Veteran's Stadium. Too much rain and too many errors and too much Phillies for the Cardinals to overcome. Phils now lead series 2-1.

ALCS Game 2

Image
Despite good pitching from Jim Perry, the Senators win on a bloop single from Jose Zardon. Then Zardon stole 2nd and advanced on a error from John Roseboro. With Zardon on 3rd, all Harland Cliff had to do was hit it to the outfield. A sac fly by Cliff wins it for Washington. They take a 2-0 lead in ALCS. Surprising considering how hot the Twins were coming into the series.

NLCS Game 2

Image
In Game 2 of the NLCS, the 1967 Cardinals continued their pitching dominance with a no hitter into the 8th inning by Bob Gibson. But in the 8th, the Phillies finally erupted with 3 runs breaking up the no no and giving the Phillies a win. Series tied 1-1.

ALCS Game 1

Image
Jim Kaat pitched a good game for the 1969 Twins at Griffith Stadium but the the relievers gave up the game 3-2 to Washington. He shut down the Senators offense giving up only 1 run. But reliever Ron Perranoski for Minnesota came in and gave up a 2 run single to Jose Zardon in the 8th. That was enough for a Senators win. Game 1 to Washington.

NLCS Game 1

Image
It was bizarro world as the 1977 version of Steve Carlton pitched against the 1967 version. The younger version was sharp and on point as the 1967 Cardinals beat down the 1977 Phillies in Game 1 by a score of 8-2. He had a no-hitter going into the 7th inning when the Phillies finally got 2 runs with a 2 run HR by Davey Johnson. But that was it for Philadelphia. Game 1 to the Cardinals in dominating fashion.

Bizarro World!

Carlton vs Carlton!

FINAL STANDINGS

Image
Well, I completely didn't see that coming. Minnesota comes out of no where to win the AL West. Also St. Louis beats LA for the NL West. LA had been leading most of the season. 2005 White Sox and 1911 Tigers had been leading AL West most of the season. Crazy ending. NLCS - 1977 Philadelphia Phillies vs 1967 St. Louis Cardinals ALCS - 1945 Washington Senators vs 1969 Minnesota Twins

West To Be Decided

Image
Four way tie in the AL West and Cards and LA fight for the NL West....

Indians Beat White Sox To Force Tie

Image
The Indians just made things much more complicated. Granted the White Sox didn't help themselves much....3 way tie now. If Minnesota wins, it'll be a 4 way tie. Ugh..

Cardinals Defeat LA for 1 Game Playoff

Image
Bob Gibson shut down the Dodgers with 10 k's, despite a Grand Slam HR by Duke Snider. That was LA's only highlight. Now a 1 game playoff next for NL West title. The AL West could get confusing if all teams end up 8-8.

Phillies Win Division! Updates on Other Divisions..

Image
In the last game of the season, the 1977 Phillies emphatically beat the 1933 Giants 12-1 to win the NL East. The late surge from the 2015 Mets and 1949 Dodgers wasn't enough. In other games of importance, the last place 1920 White Sox played as spoilers for the 1911 Tigers in beating them 5-2. The Tigers could of won the NL West outright over the 2005 White Sox, but the 1920 team had other plans. Now the 2005 team has to win over 1954 Indians to take the West outright. Otherwise, a one game playoff between the Tigers and White Sox. In the AL East, the 1916 Red Sox, played spoiler too with a win over the 1945 Senators. The Red Sox, who have been on a hot streak, took the last game against Washington 6-2 with a 12th inning explosion. So now the Senators are 1/2 game up on the 1987 Toronto Blue Jays. They play the 1996 Yankees and have to win in order to remain alive for a one game playoff. The NL West will be decided when the 1967 Cardinals take on the 1959 LA Dodgers at Busch ...

Standings After 13 Games

Had to auto play a lot of games....kinda over this league. I just want a champion now. Probably gonna do the same until the playoffs. The minutia is mind numbing at this point.

Standings After 12 games...

Image
Every division is tight...last 4 game left.. If you recall, I am replaying this league that crashed on me earlier this year. So I've been playing this league for over a year now....kinda over it. The temptation not to auto play every game is tempting..lol
